Film screening: Gran Horizonte by Urban-Think Tank
October 9, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeHabitat Norway is proud to announce that we will premier Urban-Think Tank’s new documentary ‘Gran Horizonte’ 9 October at Kulturhuset, Youngstorget, Oslo. Habitat Norway is co-funding this documentary.
Gran Horizonte: Around the Day in 80 Worlds
A new documentary from U-TT Films and Chair Brillembourg & Klumpner at ETH Zürich
Compiled with material filmed over the course of three years, this hour-long documentary portrays the reality of urban informality around the world, structured in a dream-like deríve of a single day. Asking questions rather than presenting answers, “Gran Horizonte” aims to broaden the perspective of visitors about both the world they live within and the world they could help create. The film is rooted in the philosophy that the future of urban development lies in collaboration among architects, governments, private enterprise, and the global population of slum-dwellers.
This is the latest cinematic project from the interdisciplinary design firm Urban-Think Tank, and is produced by its principals, Alfredo Brillembourg & Hubert Klumpner. Working in the global context of informality, Brillembourg & Klumpner focus on developing strategies to transform cities into more productive and inclusive environments, and on training a new generation of designers to improve cities in the 21st century. Since 2010 they have held the Chair of Architecture and Urban Design at the ETH Zurich. They are also co-principals of Urban-Think Tank (U-TT), an interdisciplinary design practice dedicated to delivering innovative yet practical solutions through the combined skills of architects, engineers, artists, social scientists, environmental planners, and filmmakers.
The film screening will take place at Kulturhuset, Wednesday 9 October at 19.00. The film screening will be followed by talk and debate with the film creators Alfredo Brillembourg, Daniel Schwartz and Martin Andersson.
