For the inhabitants of informal settlements and urban poor\, new mobile technology\, social media and internet services makes formerly unavailable services and information available. Mobile currency\, information about medical issues\, updates on security issues and prices on goods are communicated with new technology. Mobile technology\, the internet and social media increases transparency\, but also provides a platform for inhabitants in informal areas to spread information on issues affecting them and voice their opinion. \nWhat kind of role has these tools as a necessary infrastructure in urban planning and development strategies? For innbyggerne i uformelle områder og for urbane fattige har ny mobilteknologi\, sosiale medier og internettjenester blitt et verktøy som tilgjengeliggjør tjenester og informasjon som ellers er utilgjengelige. Mobilvaluta\, tjenester for medisinsk informasjon\, varepriser eller sikkerhetsoppdateringer vokser stadig.
